As the sole Communications Director for The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho, I spearheaded a comprehensive revitalization of the museum's marketing and community engagement efforts. Prior to my tenure, the museum lacked a cohesive brand identity and a proactive marketing strategy, including a dormant social media presence. I established the museum's first unified brand identity, creating consistent visual guidelines across all marketing materials, resulting in a more professional and recognizable public image. This foundation enabled the successful resurrection of the biannual Poetry Slam, transforming it into a highly anticipated and well-attended event. Furthermore, I identified and successfully addressed a gap in the museum's demographic by conceiving, planning, and executing "Makers Night," an innovative adult-only program that attracted a completely new audience segment and increased museum membership.
My responsibilities encompassed the full spectrum of marketing and communications. I single-handedly developed and implemented a dynamic social media strategy, creating all engaging visual content that led to a growth of over 500 new Instagram followers and increased overall online engagement. I was responsible for all promotional materials for museum exhibits, including art direction, poster design, tour booklets, mailed invitations, exhibit information and signage. Additionally, I crafted and disseminated all press releases and public service announcements to local television, radio, print, and online news outlets, ensuring consistent and impactful media coverage.
Beyond marketing exhibits, I also conceived, planned, and led sold-out art classes for adults, further expanding the museum's programming and community reach. Actively integrating the museum within the local ecosystem, I regularly participated in Chamber of Commerce and Nonprofit Alliance meetings. My proactive approach to community engagement, coupled with strategic marketing initiatives and successful event management, significantly enhanced the museum's visibility, audience engagement, and membership base within a short two-year period. I also served as the museum's spokesperson, conducting television and radio interviews to promote all events and exhibitions.
