I approached the Idaho Falls Regional Airport Firefighter Department patch project with a strategic and detail-oriented mindset. The initial phase involved a deep dive into the client's aesthetic preferences, where two distinct patch styles emerged as key directional indicators. Understanding the practical application was paramount; therefore, all design concepts were meticulously visualized on a navy blue background, mirroring the intended uniform application.
A critical aspect of this project was navigating the stringent brand architecture of the City of Idaho Falls. Maintaining brand integrity and ensuring visual harmony with the city's established identity was a core objective throughout the design process. This required a nuanced understanding of their existing visual language and a commitment to upholding brand consistency.
The development of the final patch designs was an iterative process, characterized by three collaborative design phases. This agile approach facilitated open communication, allowing for the seamless integration of client feedback and ensuring the final deliverables effectively met the department's operational needs. Recognizing the importance of long-term brand management, I also developed a comprehensive brand guide. This strategic asset provides clear guidelines for future patch variations and applications, guaranteeing sustained brand cohesion and visual consistency across all touchpoints.
This project was a rewarding exercise in balancing creative freedom with the constraints of a well-defined brand identity. My ability to effectively communicate design rationale and constructively incorporate client feedback throughout the review cycles was instrumental in achieving the project's objectives. The opportunity to contribute to the visual identity of a prominent entity like the City of Idaho Falls was both inspiring and a testament to my capacity to deliver impactful design solutions within complex organizational frameworks. I am proud to have partnered with them on this initiative.
